This sturdy, stainless steel lock resists corrosion and is custom fit to your vehicle. The Pop & Lock mounts permanently inside your truck's tailgate handle, so thieving varmints can't pop it out. The lock is installed using basic tools - no welding or drilling is necessary. And the tailgate lock wires directly into your power lock system using quick-splice connectors. If your truck does not have power locks, you can install a switch kit (SK700 - sold separately) to supply power to the tailgate lock.

I really like the Pop a Lock unit. It didn't take long to install and worked really good at first but then it got so it wasn't unlocking as it should. I contacted etrailer and they said I could return it under warranty, but being I had to get into the tailgate to remove it, it thought I would try some things before removing the unit. I found the solenoid that pulls the latch back to unlock the handle was drifting back after unlocking which allowed the handle to not be operated. I first thought I might just saw off about 1/8" but first I thought I would lubricant it and re-adjust the unit as much as I could. So far I have not had any other issues with the unit. I had also heard of the unit failing in other reviews, so as a backup plan I made a loop in a piece of Weedeater string and fished it out to the side of the tailgate through a hole already at the bottom. It is hidden, but I can pull on the string and it will pull the latch on the unit to unlock it.

- Tailgate Locks for a 2004 GMC CanyonWe do have some tailgate lock options for your 2004 GMC Canyon. But Replacement BOLT Lock Cylinder # BL709231 will not work with the 2004 GMC Canyon. It isn't necessarily because of the lock or truck but because it does not accept the 2004 Canyon key. We do have Pop & Lock tailgate locks # PAL1700 and # PAL1700C which are manual locks. Or you could use lock # PAL8160 which will work with power door locks to lock and unlock the tailgate.
